VLC is a free cross-platform media player It supports a large number of multimedia formats, without the need for additional codecs It can also be used as a streaming server, with extended features (video on demand, on the fly transcoding, ...) VLC is a very good Media Player. The GUI interface may not look as nice as some other medi players, but there is far more functionality. VLC will not only play just about any kind of audio format that you throw at it, but also most video and dvd formats as well. Include streaming video capability and this is one program I can highly recommend that you add to your repertoire.
